On Palawan, the copra sacks of sealed herbarium specimens, pickled specimens, and wood/liana specimens were tightly packed in specially made crates and shipped to the Rijksherbarium in Leiden, Holland. Collin Ridsdale took charge of the processing.

The wet collections had to be unpacked and laid out carefully in newspaper. There was usually enough material for 10 sheets. Each sheet needed its own label with the collecting notes. These were then placed alternately on cardboard, with corrugated aluminium sheets every few herbarium sheets. These were then placed in forced air driers, that forced warm air through the cardboard and aluminium sheets from the back and out into the open.

In this way, up to 200 sheets could be processed in a day. Once dry, the actual newspaper sheets with the specimens were placed with separators in numbered collection boxes.
